Book Review, Musical Instruments in the Bible, Kimberley Payne

God has put the love of music in our spirits. Kimberley Payne, in her very informative book, Musical Instruments in the Bible, Learn About Musical Instruments While Exploring God’s Word, introduces us to a wide array of music-making instruments. Have you ever wondered what a castanet, a sistrum or a shofar are? How does an organ in the Bible differ from an organ in churches today? Kimberley answers these questions, and many more.

Kimberley Payne clearly explains what the different categories of instruments  are, their purposes, and how ten instruments were designed and played. She includes diagrams, Biblical references to the instruments, ideas for projects and much more. Her book is designed for children 7 to 18, but it is also a helpful guide for parents, Sunday School teachers and anyone with an interest in music and how it relates to the Scriptures.

What touched me most about the this book was the concept that our God created us with a love for music that provokes a response in our hearts, and draws us closer to him. We are made to respond to music, and we are made to respond through music to God.

I received a free copy from the writer and wrote an honest report; there was no compensation involved.
